Topic Choice: Restore The Shore
List five facts that you already know about this topic:
1. Hurricane Sandy destroyed the Jersey shore.
2. Many people were put without power and homes for many weeks.
3. Many celebrities made fundraisers to help raise money to help fix the shore.
4. Many of the houses in my town need to be knocked down or have already been knocked down and the people that live there lost all of their belongings.
5. Governor Chris Christy of New Jersey has visited the shore multiple times in hope to help find a resolution.

1. How did it/will it impact the world?
Many families that live at the shore full time are out of home and jobs. Summer residents will not be able to go to the beach for the summer. The destruction of the shore will also have an effect on the economy.
2. Why is there still interest in it today, or why will there continue to be interest in it?
People are still being effected by Hurricane Sandy and until the shore is back to the way it use to be it’s residents and visitors will be effected.
3. Why are you interested in researching this topic?
I am interested in this topic because Hurricane Sandy also effected me. I lost my shore house to the storm and it has really upset my entire family.
4. How do you personally connect with this topic?
I am personally connected to this topic because I have spent every summer at the shore since I was born. All my aunts, uncles and grandparents have houses down the shore and this will be the first summer we all aren’t together going to the beach or on the boat. Resources

I think that any news website or blog will be helpful to this topic. The shore has been all over the news since the hurricane hit and I am sure I will be able to find all the information I need on cnn.com or fox.com.

1. There are different kinds of thyroid cancer.
2. Your thyroid is located in the front of your neck.
3. Usually found early enough to treat.
4. Most common symptom is a lump or swelling in your neck.
5. Most common treatment is to remove all or most of your thyroid.
Answer these questions about this topic:
1. How did it/will it impact the world?
Effects families and patients across the world.
2. Why is there still interest in it today, or why will there continue to be interest in it?
It still occurs in peoples everyday lives.
3. Why are you interested in researching this topic?
Thyroid cancer has effected many people in my life and I saw how it devastated the patients families.
4. How do you personally connect with this topic?
I would like to see a cure to the cancer and for the people I know that suffer from thyroid cancer to feel better. Resources

I think that any video that has to do with thyroid cancer will help me. Along with medical article and magazines.

I think I will find more information on the Restore The shore because it is a very specific topic and is still occurring now. Thyroid cancer is a huge problem but is also a much broader topic.

I like the restore the shore topic best because it is a much closer problem to me and my family and will make my life much different this summer.
